Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, Gene by Gene is a full-service genomics laboratory that has processed millions of DNA samples for researchers, clinicians, biotech companies, and consumers in more than 100 countries.
The lab is the genetic engine behind FamilyTreeDNA and has partnered with the National Geographic Genographic Project, academic medical centers, and pharmaceutical sponsors on large-scale sequencing programs. Their infrastructure supports Sanger sequencing, targeted next-generation sequencing, whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing, mtDNA, Y-DNA, and clinical genotyping arrays — all under one roof.
We chose Gene by Gene because we didn't want to compromise. Cheap reseller labs cut corners on chemistry, on quality control, and on the credentials required to return a result a physician can actually act on. Gene by Gene doesn't cut those corners — and neither do we.

We never sell genetic data. Ever. Samples are barcoded — not named — at the lab, and you can request destruction of your physical sample and raw data at any time. Full HIPAA compliance, encrypted at rest and in transit.
